Site Organization With Subdomains

Promotion Tip: Site Organization With Subdomains

[I’ve just brought this article over from my other blog – – where I am changing the theme etc. It was first posted in November 2008.]

I was moved to pop on here today when I found this amazing site –

Some of the things I have been doing since I last wrote in here included reading as much as possible about SEO – Site Engine Optimisation. I’ve not only been reading Brad Callens SEO Mindset, but viewing online videos too. All very interesting and extremely useful, if somewhat technical.

In the middle of last night I decided I would think about setting up subdomains on my main website – (still a work in progress, BTW) – but I just wanted to double-check that I understood what they were all about and made sure it wanted to go ahead.

For example, instead of having as my Blog URL, it could be I can have as many subdomains in front of my main domain name as I want.

Best thing to do in these cases is pop onto Google. And that’s where I found

From reading about subdomains I then went on to all the other links that appeared in the first article. Although they have been written a few years ago, the information ties in with all the other stuff I’ve been going through.

Main tip – when adding an image, give it a descriptive ALT title too, in the form of a short sentence using one or two keywords. The Search Engines like it, but perhaps more importantly, they can be read out for unisighted people. Also, … well pop over to the NetMechanic site for yourself using the link at the top.

It’s a shame it’s doesn;t appear to be active; the last entries seem to be 2005 in the sections I was using – but perhaps they’ve relocated to another URL (and their latest copyright is 2007).

And what about subdomains. Well, yes, I think they may be very useful. Although every subdomain can be treated as a whole site in its own right, ie they can have a similar style to other pages on the domain, they must not have exactly the same home page. The logo and style can be similar, but the content itself must be completely different other wise the Search Engines will block them. On the plus side though, they can be added as entities in their own right, so if they all interlink that would be a brilliant way to implement everything I’ve been reading about!

That’s all for today.

This little tool, which needs Firefox BTW, let’s you see the keywords while you are browsing. But it doesn’t stop there. In fact, I’m so excited about PPC Web Spy that I’m off to do a Squidoo lens right now!

The standard tool is free, but when you see the one time offer to upgrade to Platinum, you won’t want to by-pass it.

If I have any doubts, it is how effective this tool will be once everyone is using it – so why wait? Jump on board now – it’s all legal, decent and honest – and as it’s free, pass it round.

Top Five Programs You Need to Run Your Internet Business

Top Five Programs You Need to Run Your Internet Business

[I’ve just brought this article over from my other blog – – where I am changing the theme etc. It was first posted in December 2008.]

It doesn’t matter what type of internet business you are working at, these programs will serve to help you do everything more efficiently. Here’s one take on the programs you cannot do without.

No. 1   Roboform
RoboForm: Learn more...

You must have a password management program. It isn’t enough to use the same password with variations, you need to also keep your full login details. What’s easier than clicking one button which then takes you directly to the website (in a new window/tab) and logs you in? Roboform will do that and more. Works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. You can try their free trial for up to 15 logins.

[Also consider the free Firefox and other browser add-on LastPass from, you guessed it:]

No. 2   OneNote

Microsoft have great products – despite the fact that Wordperfect was 10 times better than Word! MS OneNote is a brilliant product. Yes, you have to pay for it if it isn’t part of the suite already, (but Amazon have good deals). OneNote is your ‘swipe’ file, organiser, filing cabinet, book writer, ideas file, scrapbook. All tabbed and saved instantly without the need to work out where to put them and under what filename. Easily searchable, so as long as you can remember a phrase or word, you’ll find it. Brilliant! You can get a 60 day free trial directly from Microsoft and then buy the license from Amazon.

No. 3   Ashampoo Magical Snap

On first using this very simple program, you really will think it’s magical. Instead of printscreen or highlight/copy/paste, use Magical Snap to copy a whole web page, a section as a rectangle, a section as a squiggly outline – then paste it into… you guessed it, your OneNote. Each item is stored as an image or you can print it out directly. Magical Snap works like a breeze and is you right hand man for your business swipe file and writing books is a breeze as you can simply slide the chapters around if you have a change of mind. It doesn’t matter how many monitors you have either – copy exactly as much or as little as you want.

[Also consider the FREE Firefox add-on Pixlr Grabber]

No 4   Firefox browser

It takes people a long time to move from Internet Explorer to Firefox. But almost everyone who does wishes they had made the transition sooner. There are so many add-ons available that almost everything you will ever need can be found somewhere. It works fine with Roboform too. You can look at Safari and Google Chrome, but Firefox takes the gold medal right now.

No. 5   Eset Security Suite

Perhaps this should be top of the list. Anti-virus and PC security software are absolute essentials these days. No longer is it sufficient to run a virus check once a week and download updates to your AV software once a month. These must be run on a daily basis if you are to not only keep your computer safe and secure, but also protect your contacts from being infected by a virus sent out by your machine! Unlike other AV suites, Eset Security has very low impact on the speed of your system and doesn’t impinge on other programs unless it finds an infestation somewhere. It runs totally in the background so you will hardly ever need to touch it – just let it do its job.

These are the very first five programs you should consider putting onto your computer before you get started in your internet business. That’s not to say they can’t be used for anything else, but I think you will find that the ease they bring to managing all the information which passes through your virtual desk every day, will make them priceless.

Don’t Be Afraid Of Money. It Is Not The Root Of All Evil!

[I’ve just brought this article over from my other blog – – where I am changing the theme etc. It was first posted in December 2008.]

Don’t Be Afraid Of Money. It Is Not The Root Of All Evil

Letting Go Of Fear Around Money

This is the title of a short article I’ve just written – you may have come here from it, so I won’t repeat itagain. (Here’s the link if you want to read it on GoArticles)

The reason I wrote it was to discuss one of the fundamental reasons why people don’t become successful – fear of money. This is irrational and will not help mankind in its trek towards perfection. We must look at money as a useful tool to help us do what needs to be done to progress mankind.

Anyway, as this is a blog about making money online, then I’d like to introduce to you a program to help anyone rid their fear of money and therefore of success. Get rid of the fear and you will open yourself to abundance. There’s a bit more to it than that, of course. But I have come across a program which may be helpful. It’s called “Letting Go Of Fear Around Money” (not the nattiest of titles, but it obviously works!) and is a course in which “Ebooks, Ecourses, CDs and MP3s are used to support those who want to be free financially, regardless of what money seems to be currently available to them.

I’ve found some interesting quotations about money and wealth in general:

We hear that there is wealth, we see it; we work hard for it, and become rich ourselves and so help others.
(Abdu’l-Baha, Abdu’l-Baha in London, p. 64)

On the one hand you have wealth, and great luxury; on the other hand men and women are living in the extremities of hunger and want. This great contrast of life is one of the blots on the civilization of this enlightened age. You must turn attention more earnestly to the betterment of the conditions of the poor. Do not be satisfied until each one with whom you are concerned is to you as a member of your family.
(Abdu’l-Baha, Abdu’l-Baha in London, p. 91)

But in the divine teachings equality is brought about through a ready willingness to share. It is commanded as regards wealth that the rich among the people, and the aristocrats should, by their own free will and for the sake of their own happiness, concern themselves with and care for the poor. This equality is the result of the lofty characteristics and noble attributes of mankind.
(Abdu’l-Baha, Foundations of World Unity, p. 44)

Wealth results from the co-ordination of a variety of efforts directed upon the equipment and material. A sound economy deals with the whole process in its variety of human relationships and does not seek to center the process around the point of any group advantage, whether ownership, direction, technical knowledge, manual skill or consumption. Wealth in part is the right of the individual and in part the right of the community. Under conditions of international competition desperate social emergencies arise when no just distinction between private and public wealth can be made. True justice and social philosophy await the formation of world institutions and the predominance of the world view.

(Baha’i International Community, 1947 Feb, A Baha’i Declaration of Human Obligations and Rights)

So far as earthly existence is concerned, many of the greatest achievements of religion have been moral in character. Through its teachings and through the examples of human lives illumined by these teachings, masses of people in all ages and lands have developed the capacity to love. They have learned to discipline the animal side of their natures, to make great sacrifices for the common good, to practice forgiveness, generosity, and trust, to use wealth and other resources in ways that serve the advancement of civilization.
(Baha’i International Community, 1995 Mar 03, The Prosperity of Humankind)

Similarly, the training that can make it possible for the earth’s inhabitants to participate in the production of wealth will advance the aims of development only to the extent that such an impulse is illumined by the spiritual insight that service to humankind is the purpose of both individual life and social organization.
